1 & 2. Old gives way to new as the diggers remove track and garden to improve the station throat trackwork at Tenterden.

3. Northiam receives an end of season spruce up round the evergreen screen plants.

4. The new ramp is planted out – where there’s a hole there’s a trailing plant.

5. It may be snowing but Veronica battles on with the work.

6. An unwanted tree is removed (with difficulty) from a planter.

7. The chief gardener shovels in new surface cover.

8. Thomas’s very own patch gets tidied – whilst snow lingers on the platform. It’s one way to get warm – lots of digging.

9. As the service train bustles into the platform, the daffs give a spring touch to this most rural of steam stations.
