NEVER
on a Sunday so it must be Tuesday again!
Our activities are sometimes up in the air like this one which
involved Robin climbing all over our Northiam HQ bungalow roof applying
some wonderful black potion to restrain rust and the ingress of the
weather – sure, he loved every moment!!
|

Other events are rather more down to earth or in this case down
to platform edge level - removing loose paint before applying a smooth
bright white edge stripe of paint down the length of Bodiam station.
Rain of cats and dogs ferocity promptly removed much of it – so
it had to be re-done the following week!
|

You can’t have too much of a good thing apparently, but
here we are starting, tentatively, at Tenterden wondering if the Railway
couldn’t do with shorter platforms – especially on a hot
sunny day. |

Our Stan-Alone painter works away on his lonesome – pine cladding
painting at the Tenterden facilities. He’s completing the work
started some weeks before to help spruce the place up for the
summer.
|

Spring is in the air – bluebells brighten the gardens as Graham,
not content with just platform lining, gets stuck into the foot-crossing
next to Tenterden signal box.
|

Occasionally it rains even on the railway! On
this occasion it was settling in for a thoroughly wet day and so
we turned to indoor activities like a repair and paint job on the
very heavy Northiam platform seat. (see next picture)
|

Ray and Ron do a spot of heavy furniture moving (of one repainted seat),
courtesy of the Northiam sack barrows.
|

Ron is working on the new crossing-keeper’s hut for Northiam. Will
it all fit together as per his plan? He’s ably assisted / umpired
by Stan. (Seats for spectators quaffing their morning coffee in the sunshine.
They’d have watched until stumps were drawn - hung and quartered if
Graham hadn’t got his whip out!) |

The DMU crosses into Northiam station but doesn’t stop play as
we assemble our 3D sight screens alias Wellington Hall - the crossing-keeper’s
hut.
|

EVERY sign of activity: The new running
in boards for Tenterden and Northiam Stations are delivered - Humph
and John paint on undisturbed.
|

TIMBER!! The new signs were too large to fit into our
cars so were sent on the service train as “goods” from
Northiam to Tenterden. We assemble them on a very hot summer’s
day having first dropped the old sign.
|

Final screws are driven into place to give Tenterden its new smart running
in board. |
We’re beavering away at our Northiam base: Give us a wave
if you pass on the trains. |

Cheers everyone! Like to joins us for interesting days on the KESR? Give
Graham a ring then and he’d be happy to explain how.
