An incident occurred on the Kent and East Sussex Railway on
Bank Holiday Sunday at Rolvenden Level Crossing gates which involved damage
to one of the gates and a passing car. A train was also involved in the incident.
David Lloyd General Manager of the K&ESR stated “we confirm an
incident took place which has been reported to Her Majesty’s Railway
Inspectorate. No injuries were sustained and the car involved received only
slight damage. A full investigation has already been started and the matter
will be the subject of a full report in due course”.
The K&ESR has an excellent safety record and operates under strict guidelines issued by the HSE which are also used by all railway operating companies. The incident caused a slight delay but services were operating normally the following day.
A daily service operates for the remainder of this week then
until the end of September is reduced to Tue, Wed & Thu and weekends.
